Tell us your best small idea for big business wins |
Focus on a particular niche of clients rather than trying to be everything to everyone. For us at Lengea, that niche is innovative healthcare companies that are trying to scale. We are the lawyers who help them do that, and sleep soundly at night. |
Tell us about you; your background |
Sara Shikhman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2006. After that, Shikhman managed the sales, marketing, and legal teams for two high-growth medical aesthetic businesses: Juvly Aesthetics, a medical spa with 12 locations in 5 states and 150+ employees; and Aesthetic Record, a medical software app and electronic medical record servicing over 1,000 aesthetic practices around the country. While at Juvly and Aesthetic Record, Shikhman grew the companies from $4,000 in annual revenue in 2014 to nearly $16,000,000 in annual revenue in 2019. Before this, Shikhman was CEO of BedroomFurnitureDiscounts, an e-commerce company, and grew the company to $13,000,000 in annual revenue in less than 4 years. Shikhman also practiced corporate law at a top law firm in New York and was a professor of business law at Pace University. |
Business is all about overcoming obstacles and creating opportunities for growth. What do you see as the real challenge right now? |
A real challenge right now is access to capital for small business. WIth high rates and less available SBA loans it is harder for companies to get the capital needed to start a business or scale it. |
On a lighter note, if you had the ability to pick any business superpower, what would it be and how would you put it into practice? |
I already have the superpower I need – it is perseverance. I put it into practice every day by working hard for my clients and my team. |
What does “success” in 2023 mean to you? It could be on a personal or business level, please share your vision. |
Success in 2023 means doubling the size of my company in terms of the number of companies we help as our clients and doubling our revenue as a firm. |
